I’m Laurel Harple, a US native, currently based in Amsterdam and living between the Netherlands and the UK for the past 15 years. After studying at Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion, I’ve worked the past 9 years for a variety of fashion and lifestyle brands focusing on digital storytelling and social media. I started Pina Studio this year out of a personal struggle to find cool & sustainable clothes where I currently live in Amsterdam. I’m a huge fan of the “made in” movement happening largely in the US & Australia and regularly found myself (and asking my family) to bring orders from other countries during their travels. Funny enough I started hearing similar things from my friends.
Pina Studio is a concept to share what I’ve learned - and am still learning - about sustainability and ethical practices in fashion. To shop sustainably is to buy recycled or to buy new with intention: something you’ll love and wear for years. Slow fashion for progression.
The brand shares the name of my great grandmother - Pina Lee. Family has and always will be a major pillar in my life - I come from a history of tailors, manufacturers, engineers, innovators. I’m proud of my own provenance and each piece is individually named after a member of my family.
